EARTH HEALING HEART HEALING ART HEALING
About Me
Life unfolds in mysterious ways. Most of my life
was spent in ordinary roles of student, wife,
mother and employee. Five + years ago I was
downsized from my corporate position. I took
advantage of the time off to do what I thought
would be a little internal work - review who I
was, where I'd been and what my goals were.
Little did I know that this process would lead me
down many uncharted pathways and open me to the world of Spirit, of healing and creativity. I have spent these years developing my intuition, creativity and latent healing talents.
Art has transformed my life. Each painting and sculpture has been a loving (though sometimes harsh) teacher, showing me aspects of myself that were ready for an upgrade, re-creating me, shifting and improving me by the process of its own creation.
I became a reiki practitioner for the art. I wished to ensure that anything I touched with my hands would be infused with the loving energy of the Divine. Over time many wonderful, fabulous teachers have come into my life, expanding my understanding of energetic healing and stretching me into new territory.
It is true that when the student is ready, the teacher appears. And, I discovered, when the healer is ready, those needing my healing gifts began to appear. And ultimately I have found that when the teacher is ready, the students appear.
Each stage of my unfolding has come in perfect timing, with exquisite synchronicity and amazing grace. When I gaze in the mirror, I now see looking back a teacher, a healer and an artist. I suppose I always had those talents, but they were untapped, undiscovered, sleeping, waiting to be awakened.
I have found that trying to assign title(s) to what I do makes little sense these days. My life is much more fluid and complex than can be held in a title. I do what is needed in the moment for the betterment of those who come into my life, and I love this. I have come to think of myself as a Teacher, and the teaching occurs in many ways.
At this time (July '09) I find my life unfolding yet again with a move back north from Orlando to Ohio. I have sensed a change in the wind for some time, and am excited to see where this adventure will lead.
Last year I began to work more consciously with the earth to help bring the planet back into balance. Part of this work is through education and part is through my healing work.
By giving people, through workshops and classes, the opportunity and the tools to become more aware of the natural world around them they begin to realize that we are part of a big extended family that includes all life on the planet. My students learn to listen to and communicate with our brothers and sisters the trees, rocks, birds, faeries and other siblings. And to understand that we hold the key to global health in our own hearts... and in our thoughts.
I have learned that we are so very intertwined with the Earth, that her well-being is also ours, and ours is also hers. I believe that Eden still exists. It is all around us, it is within us. It is a state of being. We are still the Gardeners we were created to be, and can choose to re-claim our role in any and every moment through our thoughts, intentions and actions.
I believe that we are being called to tend our Inner Gardens as well as the Outer Garden around us. Inner Garden meaning ourselves, cultivating beautiful thoughts and weeding out negativity and limiting thought patterns. Outer garden being the the Earth herself, as well as all her children.
Love the Earth, Heal Ourselves
Love Ourselves, Heal the Earth
We cannot underestimate the benefit - to all life, the earth and to ourselves - of seeking beauty, filtering our experiences for love and joy and extending kindness and compassion to those our lives touch.
I have recently begun to use the name of AhneeKA. It is a name I was given a few years back in meditation, and have used its symbolic form to sign my artwork for years. The rest of the world has known me as Kathy Ford, and much of my early healing and artwork has been done under that name. Yet it seems important somehow to now embrace the name AhneeKA, given to me by Spirit.
Transitioning a lifelong identity is an interesting process, but one that has to start somewhere, I suppose. I honor my guidance by stepping more completely into the vibration of this name as I transition my life from Orlando to Ohio....... But don't be surprised if I still forget and answer the phone "Kathy Ford speaking". :)
This is the beginning of a new journey for me, for all of us. A journey home, a journey back to Eden, which is and has always been as close as our hearts and as beautiful as our thoughts.
I enjoy writing, and have lately been encouraged to do more of it.
